Whether you rent your home by the week, month, or year, chances are it will put up with some abuse from your tenants. You want the property to be comfortable, encouraging vacation renters to return year after year, or long term renters to continue to call your place "home", but you also want to protect your investment. Here are some suggestions for furnishings and accessories that can withstand lots of use.
The microfiber fabric on the sofa can handle some abuse. (Furniture sales people are fond of saying "you could sit down with a screwdriver in your pocket and it wouldn't cut the upholstery." Not sure how often this happens, but I guess it's good to know your couch would be fine.) It will also hold up to the more likely culprits of pets, children, food, and drinks. Select a dark color like this deep brown and you shouldn't even have to fear red wine, coffee, or chocolate.
An indoor/outdoor rug looks perfectly at home inside but will last through high traffic and many spills as it is meant to be exposed to the elements.
The rustic wood of the coffee table needn't be fussed over as additional wear will only add to its charm, and the wooden lamp is much more durable than a ceramic or glass version. Metal and rattan storage baskets are functional and durable, and will help corral everything from kids' toys to magazines to remote controls.
